When starting my 1997 gtx on trailer it will run and rpm will go to about 6500 rpm but when I put ski in water will not go over 2500 rpm. I'm at a loss. I'm new to pwc so I have no ideas.
Sounds like you are having a fuel delivery problem.
While on the trailer there is no load on the engine.
In the water the engine loads up requiring more fuel.
Turn the fuel selector valve to reserve and try it. Chances are it will run better.
The fuel selector valve could be clogged.
The carb internal fuel filters could be partially clogged
Also check the external fuel filter and make sure the O ring is not damaged. this will make your fuel system suck air.
ga-ron-teed your only runing on one cly , check your compression if its good then change your plugs , if its still there , the start checking your fuel system . just had a gsx do the same thing , would only run 25 - 3000 in water but 7gs on trailer
:agree:You are right Karl, I seem to forget about compression checks. I always just assume that is part of any diagnosis. You know what happens when someone assumes!!
My wife says it is CRS disease! lol
