I'm new to the forum and glad to be here. There is so much information being shared.

This past week I rebuilt the SC on my 2009 GTX 255 . Took it on the water yesterday, and after 3 hrs of running, it won't go over 5mph. The engine will rev up the rpms, but the ski won't go. I checked the error codes while on the water, and had 3 of them. 2 of the codes, according to this forum do not exist, because they don't start with a P. I got it back to the dock to record the codes, and the only one that showed up is B2210. Not sure what happened to the other 2 codes while I was on the water. I took the ski out of the water, and looked for debris. Didn't find any. I'm not sure what else to look for. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I too am experiencing this problem, and joined the forum because a friend advised that you had posted the same issue.

Details: I have a 2009 SeaDoo GTX Limited, 255 HP supercharged ski. It has been a great experience overall, but we have run into problems with the controls/control stalk from the outset. The entire stalk was replaced under warranty late last season, and it was only in the water once afterwards to verify that the repairs were completed satisfactorily. It came home with a new black lanyard and ran very well before being winterized and put away. This season it was good to go right out of the gate. One of my sons ran it hard with his son on it with no problems. The next weekend my wife took a grandchild out and everything fell apart. (With me on it, of course.)

In short, while sightseeing, we were gently applying enough gas to keep the wind and tide from pushing us around. Gentle gas, off the gas, repeat often. After getting off the gas one time I heard a "clunk", which I assumed meant that I hit something submerged, possibly a sandbar in the middle of the cove we were looking at. I don't know what happened, but from that point on we experienced exactly the symptoms that you described. It would rev up easily, but the speed stayed at 5 mph or less, bucking the wind and tide. There is no evidence of impeller damage or even any fresh scrapes on the grate or hull. I have the B2210 code set and one other, P1658 which deals with the lanyard functioning.

On a different website I found comments about a "limp-in" mode, where only 1 cylinder gets gas, leaving the other two to "thrash around" in the words used in the note. Concern was raised about damaging the 2 disabled cylinders by that writer. I still have not found out if the B2210 code is that limp-in capability or not. I have done all I can to research the issue and look at the ski, but there is no resolution at this time. I want to launch it to see if the condition still exists, after having checked for impeller blockage or any other apparent damage.

I'd like to know if you (or anyone else) has heard of or experienced the limp-in mode or if anyone can provide more details about it or how to reset (clear) codes to see if they return.

Thanks, and good luck to you,

Mike 2009

If your engine is getting up to high revs then you have something wrapped around your impeller and are getting cavitation.

Thanks.

I didn't see anything in there, but I will do a closer look with a fiber optics tool. I unfortunately left it home this weekend.

Any idea of where to look for the code? I'm scratching my head at this point, and I won't be able to look for physical evidence until next weekend. I'm also learning my way around the forum and various threads.

Happy boating.

Sorry. I guess folks think I fell off the grid. Fortunately I made some headway with the 2009. The impeller was clear. I got down with the fiber optic tool and gave it a close up exam. Nothing there. The most likely reason for the revving without speed is operator error. It is likely that I had fat fingered the mode and put it in cruise with a top speed of 5 mph. Be aware that using the cruise will let the engine rev beyond what is required for the speed that you set. It runs fine now.

I finally bought the CanDoo. I highly recommend it for anyone with multiple skis. The first thing I did was check codes. The B2210 is apparently the root directory of the memory. I don't know how else to explain it. All of the other codes were indented below it. They all had to do with keys and power interruption. They show up "as occurred", and then they disappear if the problem is not reported multiple times. For instance, yanking the key off sets a code for loss of power, but it disappears when you restart the ski. Another was using the wrong key. I had stated that the learner key no longer worked after the dealer replaced the control stalk. I took care of that problem with the CanDoo. Next I will buy more keys and program them for both skis.

The 2005 was overheating. Now it has a new battery (it gave up the ghost while I was playing with it) and starts and runs easily. Unfortunately it is showing some water in the oil. I am hoping that a quick change and flushing with clean oil before putting in the expensive ski oil will resolve the problem. The oil and filter were new after rebuilding the supercharger, but it sat outside under a tarp over the winter. I'm hoping the issue is condensation. Please let it be condensation!

I hope this answers some questions. and good luck!
