Have 2 identical 96 GTX's 110HP motors. Motors are pristine. Just had the carbs rebuilt and all gas lines replaced. First one ran like a scalded Ape, just like it was suppose to. 58 mph, me plus full tank of gas semi rough water.

The 2nd feels like its pulling an anchor. RPM all the way to 7K+, will only do about 25mph top.
** Carbs rebuilt, does not sound or feel like a carb issue.
** All fuel lines replaced
** Gas is good
** Visually inspected everything underneath. Gap between impeller and wear ring looked to be about 1/8th of an inch. It seemed about the same as the other
** At night put a light behind the impeller, seemed like same amount of light shown thru on each.

** Could it be as simple as running on 1 spark plug? How can you have the RPM's without the power?
** Jet wash was clearly not coming out like the other.

I am pretty handy with a wrench, so not afraid to tear into something, but am at a loss here? Not familiar with how important the wear ring is or how close a gap there should be.

Thanks in advance, very frustrated!

If you get 7k and the jet wash looks different then it is something in the drive line, 1/8" gap is way big. You could have stripped splines on your PTO or driveshaft, pull the pump and have a look.

Any instructions? Have learned to actually use them lately....
