Hi Everyone,

I just bought my first jetski, a used 1997 GTX with the 782.6cc (I guess it's called a 787 or 800, not sure why) non runner. The throttle was stuck open. No clue how many hours but it's flithy inside and has tons of chipping paint, particulate and grease everywhere. Also doesnt have a battery but I'll get a new one soon.

First thing I did (after pressure washing the engine compartment) was take the carbs off to inspect what was causing the sticking. Turns out the rod that the throttle plate screws into on the mag side carb was binding. I removed the throttle lever and chucked the rod into a drill. I then ran the drill for a while to free up the bind. Added some grease after and it seems good now.

The other thing I noticed and my main reason for making this post was that the choke valves and all associated components (except for the cable) were missing.

My question is can I get choke valves and all the associated parts to add choke or do I need to buy new carbs? If so where?

Additionally the previous owner said the primer doesn't work but I don't even see the primer, where should it be on the ski and where does it connect to the carb?

I live in cocoa beach florida and will be riding the ski primarily in sea water.

Thanks,
Mark

From factory, the carbs would have had choke plates. Sounds like someone removed the choke plates and installed a primer set up. Check the "choke" lever on the handle bar and see if it is cable operated. The original choke lever may have been removed and the primer installed in it's place

Mine has a choke knob in the storage compartment in the front. I guess this is not factory? I was not aware they did not have a primer from the factory.

Do you know where i can get a stock choke lever and the stock choke plates and associated components (levers and what not)?
