Can anyone tell me if a 96 xp has a reverse? Another stupid question...i have an idea what a trim does, but is it necessary for lake use? The ski im looking at has a trim, but it is not working. Should I have it repaired or am i ok without it? Also, for some reason the owner has disconnected the oil line so you have to premix oil into the gas, should i have this fixed or is it not that big of a hassel. Final question, from what i understand, the speedos on most of these older ski quit working and the one i am looking into is no different. If you were me would you have that fixed and if so, what would one estimate that it would cost to do so?

I know this is alot for someone to answer, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Another stupid question...i have an idea what a trim does, but is it necessary for lake use? The ski im looking at has a trim, but it is not working. Should I have it repaired or am i ok without it? The trim stuff is there for stability or speed - choose your poison, many of these can be repaired but it takes in depth electrical/marine sealing techniques to be successful - the replacement parts are very expensive if you can find them, this is why the skilled gals/guys are reseaching and repairing them.....
Also, for some reason the owner has disconnected the oil line so you have to premix oil into the gas, should i have this fixed or is it not that big of a hassel. It depends on the condition of the oiling lines and pump, it you have the flat top motor the oil pump is a little harder to work on that the tilted motor, the oil consumption is much higher when you pre-mix so plan on more spark plugs and always carry the type oil you mix-synthetics are common to reduce the smoking but expensive away from home....

If you were me would you have that fixed and if so, what would one estimate that it would cost to do so? This is another place where you will search for parts, a handheld gps unit can do this and more, the dreamometers were never much use, tachometer is useful so you can remember how fast when the motor locked up.
