New to Seadoo

Apparently you all want to hear from me...or at least this site does.

Bought a 2008 Challenger 230SE last year. I'd come home from my local Seadoo dealer with a brochure and showed my wife the boat I thought we could afford...a Challenger 170. When I got home from work the next day my wife had the brochure open to the one she thought we needed...a Challenger 230. Long story short - many internet searches and a five hour drive later and we had a used 230 with 20 hours on it for the price of a new 170.

So...some observations from an experienced boater who's never had a jet before.

1. There is no such thing as idle. If the motor is running you're moving water...and if you're moving water you're moving the boat.

2. There is no rudder.

3. When backing up turn TOWARDS the thing you don't want to hit.

4. There is NO rudder!

5. When the depth gauge shows 2 feet...DON'T PANIC. Because...

6. There is NO RUDDER.

7. Weeds can seriously affect the performance of your boat. Do not vacuum the bottom of the lake. (I didn't but I saw another seadoo that did.)

8. When tubing...water pellets can hurt.

And finally...

9. Being able to take 6 kids and 4 adults out for a day of fun on the water and still have one of the faster boats on the lake is...satisfying.
