hi everyone this is my first jetski that ive owned. im a college student working as an auto mechanic to build my backround on it later in life so any maintenence/work should not be beyond my level. to start off it is a 1995 xp 720. i had it in the water once when i bought it to see how it rode and it seems that the carbuerators will need to be rebuilt/synched as it is hard to start and bogs some unless i feather the throttle to get the rpms up to cruising speed and then it does not seem to be able to hit top rpms. also i noticed at the very least that the front motor mounts will need to be replaced as the front of the motor can be grabbed and moved around some. there is 1 bolt missing on the exhaust but it looks like i will have to remove the other bolts and pull the pipe up and fish the one in because it is directly under the bend in the pipe. The fuel guage light is always on, and the trim gauge is not working and most likely the trim is not working, next time i have it up at the garage i will have someone press the trim buttons and ill watch from behind to see if it is actually trimming up and down.
so questions:
1. I have dual carbuerators diaphram style(i believe mikuni?) which rebuild kit on the various websites would i be buying for my carbs?
2. the fuel gauge light and gauge not working is there a float inside the tank that would be the culprit or is there another style piece for a jetski?
3. is there any common problems with the trim system that would make it unresponsive? or should i get a wiring diagram just start testing wires to see if they have power and ground where they should when they should.
4. the motor mounts look relatively easy to remove and replace but are there any tips anyone could offer or anything to remove to get easier access to the mounts?
i would greatly appriciate any help that i can get so i can get out on the water and enjoy.
