Hello all, New to the forum but have been absorbing the great knowledge since I recently acquired a "new to me" 1994 SeaDoo GTX with a Rotax 657. I have been in the process of pulling all the old gray fuel lines, replacing and cleaning the entire fuel system and prepping to rebuild the carbs with original OEM gasket kit. Finally got the dang carbs off last night, yep a lot of fun those two motor side nuts are but then I noticed something I hadn't yet noticed. The two main lines going to the bottom of the oil pump are hooked up but the nubs that send oil out and around have no lines attached. I thought maybe they were capped but cleaning around them it looks as if they are just missing the lines. Picked up the ski from a buddy who originally bought it with the intent to fix up from its original single owner but he didn't have the time. He indicated he started it briefly a year ago and it ran for a few but that's all the time he ever was able to give to it.

So here are my question(s):
1) Would the recommendation be to pull the oil pump to ensure the gear is not removed "bypassing the pump" or can I test the oil pump without removing it from the ski. Battery had been stolen at one point so turning the engine over is going to require new cables since they were cut.
2) What if any damage should I be looking for if the ski had (potentially) been run without the lines and without the system being capped and bypassed? Both cylinders had good compression tests for what that is worth.
3) Since the battery cables were cut a boating friend recommended Ancor cables. Little pricey but are "tinned" to help fight oxidation and corrosion. Any other cables that would be recommended?

Thanks in advance for all of the great help on the site.

Hope these 4 pics cover it. "Nubbs" or output intake ports. Guess thats Noob language :-)

Well, that is where the output lines from the oil pump goes. If it was ever run like it is now the engine is trashed.

You can use 3/32" small engine fuel hose from Home Depot or the local lawnmower shop for the correct hose.

Any recommended checks to see if the engine is gone, or just put the oil lines back on, finish up the carbs etc and see if she runs or not?

Compression test. 150psi is perfect and at 120 the engine is shot. Do not buy Harbor freight testers.

Thanks for all of your quick responses, really appreciate it. Front (Mag) cylinder showed 148, back cylinder showed about 145.
