Hello all, I am very familiar with the old 2 smoke machines having owned 3 speedsters and 2 xp's but I've yet to experience ownership of a 4tec. I am looking into purchasing a used RXP 215 2007 with 106 hours on it. The machine is clean like really clean. It's had the SC serviced so thats not really a concern to me(yet) but I was wondering what else I should look for? Bilge is spotless gelcoat looks great impeller and wear ring are pretty new. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ask for proof that the supercharger was serviced, check the compression. Get a water test.

_IF_ the supercharger was literally just serviced and now for sale, buyer beware! It's of the age and hours that it would have had ceramic washers on the S/C. A common thing when they blow is for the owner to be, correctly, told by the dealer, bits and pieces of the clutch will be in the crank case and it should be pulled, opened and cleaned out with possibly new oil pumps (2) and new bearings. The cost to do that is high so a lot of times the owner slaps a new S/C on it and lists it for sale immediately. Done right, that rebuild happens before the S/C lets go and absolutely no harm done.

The SC was serviced at 86 hours he showed me the receipt. Looks like I’m good to go. Thanks for the advice guys. Happy times.
