I purchased a 2004 GTX 185 a couple of weeks ago and it had 132 hours on the clock. The PO said he had not had the sc rebuilt. I purchased a new 2014 spec sc. I noticed it had a small (may be 1/8 or 3/32) hole in the case just in front of the 2 o rings that keep oil in the engine. I looked in the hole and could see the sc shaft. I'm guessing this is a later design for better lubrication of the shaft and bearings? Should/could this hole be added to the old original sc when it's rebuilt?

Did you get the 2014 unit rebuilt? The gears are not interchangeable otherwise.

The hole is there to help improve lubrication to the front bearing, as you mentioned. It could be added to the original SC, but on the 185 units not sure I'd bother.

It was a brand new OEM BRP part #420881995 . The description said it was a 2014 spec supercharger for 185 hp models.. It was black, not red like my sc. Thanksthumbnail_IMG_5904[1].jpgthumbnail_IMG_5905[1].jpg
