Need some help from my friends! PLEASE!

Spent 3 hours out on the 2011 GTX260 and it ran perfectly. Could not be more happy!

Was doing the idle thing back up my creek to my ramp and all of a sudden there was a "different" noise. There was lots of pine straw and other debris floating on the creek and it sounds like I sucked some into the impeller.

It runs OK at idle except for the different sound but when I add throttle the prop seems to vibrate and cavitate. I am almost positive that is something I sucked in.

My question is how do I get the reverse bucket to stay up when I shut the engine off. I can get the bucket to go up while on the trailer and blipping the throttle, but the second I shut down the motor the bucket drops keeping me from looking to see what my baby has swallowed!:banghead:

I know you pros know what to do, help this newbie fool the computer and keep the bucket up for inspection without the motor going so I do not hurt my fingers!

According to the Sea Doo manual, there is an override function available when the ski is off. This is straight from the copy of the manual I have, which is for a 2010, but I assume it would be the same, or at least along the same lines as this:

iBR Override Function

1. Power up the electrical system by
pressing the start/stop button and
then installaing the D.E.S.S. key.
NOTE: The D.E.S.S. key must be installed
to ensure the information center
will not shut off all indications after
its self test function. Electrical power
will stay for approximately 3 minutes.

2. Press the Mode button on the RH
handlebar repeatedly until SETTINGS
is visible in the digital display
of the information center

3. Press the SET button (RH handlebar)
to display DOCKMODE.

4. Press the UP or DOWN arrow button
to display IBROVR.

5. Press the SET button to enter IBR
OVR function and display OVR OFF.

6. Press the UP or DOWN arrow button
(RH handlebar) to display OVR
ON.

7. Press the SET button to select the
OVR ON function. The gauge will
return to its normal display.

8. Press the VTS UP or DOWN arrow
button tomove the iBR gate.


There are three ways to deactivate the
iBR override function:

1. Repeat previous steps and press
the SET button when OVR OFF is
visible.

2. Wait for the electrical power to shut
off.

3. Start the engine.

NOTE: When the engine is started,
the iBR OVR function is deactivated
and the iBR gate will move to the neutral
position.

So while I have my arm up my ski's rear end, I can look forward to the bucket dropping down, with out a warning, and possibly entrapping or breaking my arm?:ack:

I think I will try this but wait about 10 minutes to see if the bucket falls down after 3 minutes. I am think it would not but would hate to find out the hard way. It beats trying to clear the impeller with the engine running!

I would first crawl under the ski with a flashlite and take a look at the driveshaft and impeller thru the intake grate.:cheers:

Who doesn't like playing beat the clock when it comes down to losing a limb? Definitely should have mentioned that anything in the impeller may be just as easily accessed through the intake grate! :agree:

I going to play it safe and crawl under the ski first. I am willing to bet the leading edges of the impeller will have cypress leaves or pine straw on them. This time of year it can be full of this crap. I bet if I would have stopped the engine and restarted it that much of the debris would have floated off the impeller. Anyway, I will keep you guys posted and thank everyone for the help!

It is recommended to rock and bounce the rear of the ski while its in the water to get any debris out, with the ski off of course. Works for me when something gets up there.

it looks to me you should check the wear ring for a fracture!!!

Get the bucket in the upright position and pull the power.

Or take the pump off the ski. It's real simple to do. You only need basic tools.

Although it states that the dess is only powered for 3 minutes it only says that the override function will automatically deactivate when the ski is started.

So going by that if you override it and put in position you want it should stay until you tell it otherwise or start the ski.

I got a flashlight and looked in the water inlet and it was right there!

A wood tip to one of those stupid little cigars got lodged between the beginning of the impeller and the impeller wall! LOL! This was causing it to cavitate so badly I could go no where! Did not hurt the ski and was removed with ease but it sure does not take much to bring my new GTX 260 to it's knees!

All has been good the last few weekends! Been lucky and had great weather!

hmm, glad you got it fixed but that gives me an idea. I'm going to give one of those cigar tips to the wife and see what happens...
