Hey Gents - finally got back to finishing up a 99 GTX RFI that I picked up last year. The dude I got it from thought the engine was seized but with plenty of help on here we found it was just the jet pump that was seized. So while I had it apart I did the following:

1) pulled and cleaned the gas tank
2) new fuel pump, pressure regulator and fuel screens
3) replaced the leaky 2 piece oil tank with a 1 piece and new oil filter
4) new AGM battery
5) new rectifier
6) new ignition coil
7) new plugs
8) used jet pump with about 30 hrs on it - I pressure tested it and it held perfectly
9) rebuilt and cleaned both raves
10) rebuilt the OEM starter
11) replaced the super corroded power cables
12) replaced both fuel injectors with new ones from five-o motor sports
13) greased the drive shaft fitting
14) pulled the exhaust and replaced the gaskets as he said it leaked slightly.

So here's the deal - this rig has 106 original hours on it. The last time it ran was the summer of 2013. I got it from the guy in 2015. I just put 10 gals of fuel in the tank and 1 gallon of XPS 2 in the oil tank. I connected the DESS key and got 2 quick beeps, which I understand is what I should hear.

Question is: what do I do next? Spray storage oil into the cyls? Can I go ahead and see if it kicks over? I think I can do this briefly in the driveway if I start it, turn on the hose, then turn off the hose and shut it down? Do I need to bleed anything? I did not do any compression checks - though I would expect it to be ok at 106 hrs.

Thoughts?

First ... I would ask for picture. A thread without pictures is like porn with the lights off.

Spraying oil storage would be for the purpose of storing it? Is that what you are trying to do?

If you have rebuilt all that, you will need to do the following:
pull out your your phone/camera
Hit the record button
Connect the dess key
Start button
Brpppppppp Brpppppppp

was just contemplating that I should put something in the cylinders since this rig has sat for so long.

I usually refresh the spark plugs ... maybe some engine oil .. and a spray of gas on the carbs, filters that helps fire it up

I'd pop the plugs and drop a little xps down there, then fire it up.

As in the XPS2 I put in the tank? If so, how much, like several drops?

Finally my other concern is that while I didn't change the oil injection lines (they seemed fine and not brittle at all), I did change the 2 lines coming out the bottom of the tank. Even though I put a gallon of XPS 2 in the tank, it appears the oil has not gone through the line, at least not all the way. In the pic of the line heading to the filter, you can see just a little oil sitting in the line. And in the line heading to the engine, you can see how far it got and then it stops where the line goes a little uphill. Is this condition ok, meaning will it resolve itself when I start it or is there something I need to do first?

Thanks - also racerxxx it looks like I posted this in a sub forum by mistake. Should it be moved, can you move it or maybe it doesn't matter, just want to make sure folks see it.

Yes, just put a cap full of oil in the plug holes. You need to bleed the oil pump before you start the ski. There is a7mm screw on the front of the pump. Just back it out a small amount, there is a little crush washer that you could lose if you pull it all the way.

Ok well bled the lines - attached the DESS get 2 quick chirps and I hear pump prime briefly. Push the button, the engine seems to crank with plenty of power but just doesn't start. Doesn't sound like it wants to starts either, just cranks. For what it's worth, while cranking it I did open up the valve/butterfly on the oil pump and it started to smoke out the back fairly heavily, which I understand it would.

So what next? I'm new to this but if I had to guess, do I have a fuel delivery issue?

In any case, what to check next? Trying to get it running for vacation next Saturday!

Moved the thread into the Correct forum.

Take some pre mixed gas and put it down the plug holes, put the spark plugs back in and see if it fires up. That way we can tell if you have spark and then limit it down to the fuel delivery. I would just use some weedwacker gas as long as it's it mixed. With the extra oil you already put it it should have more than enough lube for a quick fire.

Blow out your exhaust and fog your motor before putting your PWC away. Your rings will love you for it. Every Time!

once ya get it running

Ok - done and NO Spark to be found - I checked it 3 ways, your way with some premix, a spark tester, and taking the plug out with the boot on and grounding - none of these yielded any indication of spark.

Where do I go from there?

Thx!

Ok so ignore my last post. I figured out why I was not getting spark. And I realize I am very new to this and this is my first ski ever but I am profoundly embarrassed - I feel like an idiot - so the coil has a plug that is cylindrical and I managed to make sure that was plugged in. But somehow I missed the other plug in on the back side of it. In my efforts to clean the engine and bay, I neatly tucked away all plugs, wires and such and did it so neatly I didn't even see it. So guess what I have now? Yup, spark! Still not sure if it's running right but here's a video, maybe someone hears or sees something since I don't know what it should look or sound like - but it kicks right over and then water pisses out a little hole under the tow eye on the stern. In any case, what do I do next? Oh I also decided to check compression and got 150 on both. Here's the vid:

Your getting some oil smoke I hope? I say tap on oil line with a screw driver handle. Make the bubble exit out of line. You bled pump now fill case with oil. Then I say water test.

Sounds like a happy 2 stroke. Make sure you get all the air out of that oil line feeding the pump.

Seriously, you think it's good to go? If so, on Friday, I'm going to hitch it up and head on vacation from NJ to NC. What is that water that pees out that little hole in the back up by the cleat?

Thx!

The water spraying out the back lets you know water is going into the cooling system. Is there some where you can put that rig in the water before you drag it all the way here. You need to feel real good about your oil injection before you go riding. It sounds good on the video but you wont know for sure until it goes in the water.

That bubble in the oil line is gone. I read it somewhere on here - I took the oil cap off, lowered the line and the bubble floated back up to the tank and out. I see no signs of air now.

Ok, so under normal conditions if water is NOT coming out of that hole, you have problems?

Yes there is a bay locally - although I have no backup if I went out and got stuck, so I'd have to puzzle that out before doing so. Or I bring it on the trip, as the place we're staying has a dock and a boat. Worst case is I would gave trailered it for nothing I guess.

Id hit that bay up to at least put under load and make sure it is running good but stay close to the ramp for sure and take a whistle, and a flash light. Where are you going in NC?
