need help removing fuel baffle

OK...I'm new to this...
Any suggestions on removing the fuel baffle on a '97 GS...??? Have the handlebars loose but I think the steering cable is hanging up. Does the fuel tank have to be tipped to get the necessary clearance...??? Any other suggestions...???

Im not sure if this is common knowledge or not, but in order to remove the fuel baffle from a GSX, I had to remove the steering assembly from the hull, pull the tank forward, tilt it up, and pull the baffle through the hole where the steering assembly was.

I found the thread, here is part. dont know if this applies to your model. there is more if you just search on "fuel baffle"
