Need Help! '97 GTX - Just Quits

I have a 1997 GTX. Problem is... sometimes the thing just turns off. It could be while running at full speed or idling, could be after 5 minutes of running or 45 minutes. I always have to remove the lanyard and put it back on in order to restart the engine, never have any problem restarting. Any advice? Bought a new lanyard and had it reprogrammed, still have same issue. Should I replace the post? Is there something more serious wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I had the exact same problem with my 97 GTS. I pulled the electrical box, actually I pulled the entire electrical system out of the machine. I tightened all the post connections and positioned the wires inside the electrical box so that they were less apt to cross the posts. I also removed the ground from the engine and retightened it as well. When I removed the electrical box that included the lanyard post, as I said in an earlier post I shook the lanyard post in hopes of realigning any magnets (as I have been told thats whats in there) that could have become lop sided. Hooked everything back up and have not had the problem happen again as of yet.

I know it sounds stupid, but it gave results ... I have run 3 tanks of fuel through it .. and it has only happened once .. and that was today on the 3rd tank ...

Never have gotten a real definitive answer of what is causing this to happen.

Oddly enough my buzzer that has been broken began to work today .. right after it died ... so I'm still thinking its a short in something .. either a wire harness or maybe in my buzzer itself ..

I'll try going through all the electrical connections and see if it helps the problem.... thanks for the info. Going to be 2 weeks before I can work on it...

Just wanted to let everyone know.... there was a bad connection in the box next to the battery... cleaned it off... working and running perfectly now!!

Just wanted to say there is no magnets in the post. There is a magnetic reed switch in there and the magnet is in the key. The switch can be easily tested with an ohm meter.
