1.According to the shop manual if I am interpreting it correctly, the boss on the pump only around the water passage from the pump to the engine should be sealed with right stuff. Reading previous post others thought right stuff goes all over the pump flange but to me this is not necessary because there is a neoprene seal there. Either way I am wondering if this is risky as the water supply passage could get clogged when the pump retaing nuts are tightened up and the stuff squeezes out. Comments please
2. I was thinking of smearing some non hardening flange sealant on the contact surface of the neoprene seal ring because the surface on the transom has some minor pitting / roughness. I would use blue Permatex hylomar HPF. Sound reasonable ?
