I am looking to upgrade to a four stroke this year... last year i decided to buy a 2001 seadoo GTI and i caught the waterbug and i am now looking to upgrade to a 4 stroke.
Although in a perfect world i would love to have a 2012 RXP-X 260. I know that i am gunna have to take some stepping stones to get to something that aggressive. i do have a price range of about 6 grand(canadian) that i am willing to put into.
Does anyone have any suggestions on a good mid-range PWC that can keep up with the big boys? (ran with a lot of high end 4 stroke that were in cruise control when i was full throttle) but can also be thrown around in heavy chop?

I will admit i am still new to this but i am looking to continue my knowledge into the sport. So any suggestions of advice will go a long way

thanks,

Q

Spend time in the archives here...lots of good info and interaction on a variety of subjects and model types. Start looking at everything you can that is currently for sale in your area, cause in order to know what a great deal is you gotta miss out on one. (or more)
In my book if you want to run with the big boys you either are one or you're not. A plowhorse is not going to keep pace with a thourough bred, if running up front is important to you. BUT, don't fool yourself into thinking a unit with a SC (supercharger) is a cost/maintainence equivelent to a non SC. Is it worth it? In my opinion after riding a 215 SC since '07 I couldn't imagine going back to a non SC ride. But I've learned much more about being part of the PWC community/resources once I realized that a DIY mindset is essential in managing recurring costs. Who are you going to trust more than yourself regarding your ride?
Later model 4 strokes are all 900 lbs + so they provide greater stability in chop (my wife and I ride RXT's for that reason) and I have greatly enjoyed smoking kids who think they are the hottest things on the water. Thats a ton of fun...being underestimated, then taking 'em to school!
Personally I would steer clear of the current trend of computerized suspension and braking systems. They add weight and length to the ride and are quite expensive to repair. Some swear by them, but no thanks. There is NO throwing those units around...they're limos. I still ride close enough to the edge where it's a challenge to not fall off. To me, that's riding!
Do your research, know what you want and search it out. But remember DO NOT BUY IT IF YOU CAN'T RIDE IT FIRST.
Good luck to Ya

Find yourself a nice low hr, well maintained '05 RXT.

i agree door i am not looking for a limo. And i am athletic enough that chop doesn't bother me at all.(kinda prefer it TBH) i appreciate all the advice that you have thrown at me! UNfortunetely there isn't to much of a market in my area (north east of toronto)
But i do have a good idea of what i am truly looking for . and red2blue that is a model that i was looking at prior to this thread.
4 stroke
65mph area
no suspension
no brakes ( i personally don't believe in brakes. If your going to hit something then your not driving it safely to begin with!)

update i have found a 2004 RXP 215 selling for 5500. Now i will be taking a look at it hopefully this weekend but is there anything that i should be concerned with to your knowledge?

Without a test ride in which I see rpms in excess of 8000...I would be asking questions.

he was more then willing for me to take it out for a test run... i will be seeing it next weekend and i will find out then

anyone know of any bad history with the rxp 215? other then the supercharger?

Sounds like a pretty steep price to me. I have a 2004 RXP that I paid 3,500. I know of a 2005 RXP down here that has tons of mods and goodies on it for 4,800.
