My engine is brand new and so are the rave valves. My pto side is leaking. Although they are new, I guess there is the possibility of a bad oring. I did a search on here as to the procedure to remove them. I noticed when removing them with the metric socket, they arent very tight. I turned the wrench as to tighten and they got tighter. My question is, what is the correct tightness for this? Im afraid to leave it too lose or to try and snug is more.

Thanks!

Maybe I should have been a little more specific. What do you tighten the bellows to? The part you put the socket on that's right in the middle of the bellows. Mine weren't tight at all.

I have a 97 challenger with the 787 , and one of the rave valves is wet/leaking black oil , , the other is dry as a bone , ,

My questions are ; Is that all it is (Oring) ? And will this hurt anything ? Are they suposto be dry ?

They are not supposed to be wet. The oring could be shot or the bellows could be bad. SBT sent me a new one and after I got it and compared to the one leaking in the boat, it was obvious it wasn't new. The bellows on the old one was very stiff and didn't have much flex to it. I installed the new one and the leak is gone. It's a simple check.

Did you notice any diff, in performance??
I'm also having A problem with a bog (and or) stall coming off idle, , and wondering if this might have something to do with it ?

P.S. I like your picture, , lol , , I seem to be spending allot of time like that lately , , :ack:

No difference in performance. I have an issue from idle to half throttle I'm chasing but by the looks of the plugs, I'm sure it's carb related. Sometimes an overly rich condition can cause leakage through the rave valve (unburned fuel). Take the leaking rave out and pull it apart. There really isn't much to it. Check the spring under the black cap and make sure it's not broken. With it out you will be able to inspect the bellows and it's retaining springs as well. With a 10 mm wrench you can remove the cap from the guillotine to check the oring. There's a great write-up on here from Snipe that's titled " A look inside the 787". There is much detailed information on the whole workings of your boat and will guide you in taking care of your rave valve.

I have spent A LOT of time in that position with this boat. lol My boney chest has the bruises to prove it.
