Hello all,
Wondering if any of you might know where I might find the internal snap/retainer ring that secures the counter balance shaft cover on a 787 or find a good cross reference part? I tried ordering a new retainer ring from SeaDoo and, of course, the part number has changed and so too has the part itself. What is available now is a black plastic cover that not only replaces the old cover but also fits in the groove where the retainer ring would normally go. Once installed you would ostensibly only need to remove that convenient little drain screw/plug to refill the 1 oz. of 30 wt oil that is called for.
The problem I have is that my case does not have the handy little refill plug, although it does have the boss & area where it would normally be machined. I think this means that what I have in our trusty little 97' GTX is a replacement case from Bombardier. When I tore down the case the only thing retaining the cover was about 1/4 of the old retaining ring. I would expect that the last owner had a hard time finding one as well.
If someone has one out there I'd be interested!
Thanks!
