Just bought a 2004 Sportster with 57 hours on it. The previous owner appeared to take meticulous care of this boat and it does seem to run well. However, it won't do better than 30 mph. The manual suggests this could be due to a flawed impeller ... is this a likely source of the problem? Are there other potential causes to explore as well?
The boat had not been run since late last summer and was 3/4 full of 89 Octane gas from August 2008. I gradually increased throttle today over a period of 20 - 25 minutes before running at full throttle. I've inspected both ends of the jet drive and it appears clear.
