my battery saga continues

as some of you may have read in prior posts, I put 2 Walmart Neverstart batteries on Harbor Freight 2 amp float chargers over the winter. Installed them in my skis a couple days ago. '97 ski fires right up, 96' ski won't start. Got a new battery from Advanced Auto for '96 ski and now it fires right up. Rode '97 ski (with the good Neverstart battery) 2 days ago and last night, each time fired right up. My wife and I went to go out together a couple hours ago and now the '97 ski with the NeverStart battery won't start. It was just on the edge of turning over. so we ended up having to take turns on the one ski.

Should I be looking for something killing the battery or are these batteries that fragile. Don't make sense to me that it fired right up on the trailer when i installed it, then fired right up in the water 2 days ago and last night, but now wont' start. The voltmeter is read 13 volts. When I first installed and fired it up on the trailer I remember checking the voltage while it was idling on the trailer and it was reading 16 volts. Is that good or bad while the ski is running?

The other thing that don't make sense to me is the brand new battery from Advanced Auto in the '96 ski fires right up but flashes 12 v Fragile after it starts. Why? and can someone tell me how to tell it to speak English?

I guess I'll be off to Advanced auto to buy another battery unless you guys think the ski might not be charging it? :banghead:

Some models with VTS, "hang" open when rod magnet gets postioned close to reed switch inside the module.

The 12v usually will flash after the key initiates, and will stop when the engine starts and creates its own energy. If it continues, your regulator/Rectifier is culpret! Check it for voltage at 5500 rpm, if over 15VDC, its BAD!
