MPEM - Magneto problems on GTX Limited 99

Hi all,

I have 2 GTX Limited for years now, twice bought used. One From 1999, other from 1998.
The 1999 one burned his magneto for the second time in 2 years ... The coils are burned, seems to got too high temp.
I know that the regulator is in the MPEM for this model, so I tryed to buy another MPEM (used).
With this other MEPM, the ski power up (beep beep, crank, speedometer is ok, ...), but won't start... Seem to be an ignition timing problem ...
The first MPEM in the ski was a 278000906 (it's strange, it's not the part number in the shop manual...)
The second MPEM i bought is a 278001343 and it look like it's for a GSX and not a GTX ltd ...

What do you think ? It's better to look for another MEPM ? Just add an external regulator (but wich one, and how ?). Or perhaps my magneto problem come from another problem ?

98's are single coil and 99+ models are dual coil. If you mix up the MPEMs or mag cups between the two you will have timing issues.

I think I will try to repair my old MPEM with an external regulator so
