The keys are nothing more than a microchip with an internal serial number, and a magnet to actuate the reed switch in the DESS post. When you "program a key", what you are actually doing is telling the MPEM to recognize the serial number that is in that key as valid.
To program a new key, you use a diagnostic tool (like CANDooPro )to read the serial number off the key, then program that information into the MPEM. The information on the MPEM sticker won't help you.
If you buy a used MPEM with no keys with it, then you will need to program it to recognize the key you have now. If you buy a used MPEM with a key(s) that come with it, you simply just install that MPEM and go.
