I hit a wake the other day and got about 5 foot of air and came down so hard I tore 3 of my motor mounts on my 2000 gti.So I need to change my motor mounts if I use the same shims under each new mount will this change the alignment of the engine? Are the new mounts the same thickness as the old ones? Or are the shims to adjust the difference in the manufacturing from one hull to another?

Take measurements to see if it is the same...it could be, but mounts are made differently...so there are shims to adjust if necessary.
