Hi All,
This is my first post and I'm hoping someone might have an answer.
I recently purchased (as salvage) a 2004 Seadoo GTI LE. The 717 motor was frozen and my intention was to part it out. After cleaning it up, it looked real nice and I thought I might give a try at replacing the motor.. The ski appears to have been submerged and then sat for a few years. The electronics box was water tight and was not exposed to water.
Just put in a used (but running) 717 motor that I purchased for $100.00. Also replaced the MPEM with an aftermarket one. After re-connecting the existing wiring, I placed the DESS key on the post and the ski started to crank. The solenoid was energized immediately. When the wire to the starter was removed off the solenoid, I could hear the solenoid clicking when the key was put on the post.
I suspected the on/off switch and then the solenoid. Both were replaced with good known used working parts. It still does the same thing. In fact, it also cranked over when the on/off switch was completely removed from the circuit. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
By the way, the MPEM does beep twice and appears to be working. I'm thinking the wiring harness is shorted. Any way to test it ? Thanks in advance..........Rob
