Broken up and Melted Raves
Have a 98 Speedster.
Took it out to the river last weekend and noticed that it took a little longer than usual to get the boat on a plane. Boat runs fine once it gets going. Anyway i just assumed the raves were stuck and they needed cleaning. So get the boat back to shop and found the rave caps were melted. Took them off and found the guillotines were all broke up. The tips of both of them were broken off and gone. The shaft of one was broke and I had to pry that one out of the slot. Also noticed that I could not find the O-ring. So I am trying to understand how this happens? I have had problems with the caps melting about a year ago so I bought new caps and bellose ect.. and worked fine ever since. What kind of damage could this do to the heads and piston? Where should I go from here? I bought new raves just worried that this might not be the extent of the damage.
