how is this adjusted? when I turn all the way to the left it revs up too much, when i turn in all the way to the right it bearly revs, I messed around with the cable tensioner under the cover in front of the steering, but this only changes the amount it will rev instead of distributing it evenly. Any idea?

thanks, sportster le

If the engine rpm is not the same when you turn the wheel, you need to adjust the two screws on the bracket under the helm assembly. Both screws must be adjusted at the same time. As you turn one screw in, you need to turn the other screw out until you get the same rpm. When done, there can be no slack in these screws.

If you have a dual engine boat, this procedure is a little more involved.

There is a good write up in the service manual on how to do this.
