my 2006 gtx sc 185 hp runs great starts good but will loose a half gals. of antifreeze everytime you drive at high speed. No coolant in oil or engine compartment?

Pressure check the cooling system. If you're loosing it through the ride plate and into the lake you will never see it.

I just had the same problem with my 2006 GTX SC. I saw anti freeze in the bilge though so took it to the dealer and they replaced all my coolant and exhaust clamps. They charged me 1 hour labor and $20.00 for all the new clamps. The problem no longer exists!

:agree:

Everything they said. Start with pressure testing the coolant tank and look for leaks inside and underneith the hull... that antifreeze is going somewhere! You could also have a blown head gasket and the engine could well be burning the antifreeze in the combustion process at high speed... but that's the worst case scenario I imagine.

Thanks for the advice. The motor is out and sent into the rebuilder for repair. I also think it is a head gasket. The motor is under a two year warrenty.

The motor was a new rebuilt last summer and so it is still under warrenty. The dealer sent it to somewhere in Florida for them to find out the problem.

Probably SBT... they're a PWC engine rebuilder, and located in Florida.

But why did they pull the engine and send it back to the rebuilder? Did they actually pressure test the cooling system? Did they find it leaked down but could not find any leaks anywhere so assumed the head gasket is bad? I think the spark plugs would indicate whether or not antifreeze is entering the combustion process....

Pressure tested but found no leaks?Only leaks when driven wide open.Manufacturer said send motor back to Florida for teardown and inspection.

Ahhh! Ok... it must be ingesting the antifreeze then. Something's opening up at WOT (besides the carb!) and allowing coolant to get into the cylinders. I'd be interested to hear what they say about it when you get it back?

Thanks!

ski back on the water

I just got the ski back 8/3/11, has a new motor and runs great. The other motor had a blown head gasket, SBT in Florida replaced the motor free of charge.

Cool beans! And thanks for the update... head gasket was my guess too! :-)

It's good to hear SBT took care of it also, that they stood behind their warranty.
