Hi everyone. I'm hoping for a sanity check before I start replacing parts.

I've got a 1994 GTX that will crank, but gets no spark. What I've done so far:

  • tested the stop and kill switch according to the manual and they are ok.
  • Disconnected the red/black wire from mpem (per a recommendation on someone else's post)
  • limited test on ignition coil ( resistance through spark plug wires)
  • tested mpem resistance per manual
I have three questions so far:
  • I see only one black wire from the battery to the starter. I expected to see a second ground wire but I can't find it anywhere. Is this normal for a 94? That's all the wiring diagram shows, but it seems strange to me for some reason.
  • The measurements for some of the mpem pairs did not match what's in the manual. Does this automatically mean the mpem is bad?
  • Is there anything else I should try?
