Well, we towed up to Lockport, Manitoba for some Catfishing!

Lockport/Selkirk is the last dam on the Red River of the North before flowing into Lake Winnipeg. It is known as a world-class catfish fishery and it did not disappoint!

We boated dozens of fish ranging from 15-22lbs in our boat. Largest fish in the 10-man group was just shy of 30lbs!! One captain caught over 40 fish personally in one day!!

You know it's an amazing trip when you come home with bruised bellies, sore arms and lots of smiles. I spent some quality time in the driveway yesterday power washing clay, mud and blood out of the boat. It is ready to go back on the lift for the summer.

Can I take 11 minutes of your life away? Here is a highlight reel I put together of our trip. And since my buddies can't sit through that much home movie, it's only hooksets, landings and holding fish!

I also love the show Wicked Tuna. So the reference in the beginning and the end is for the Wicket Tuna lovers out there!

Enjoy!

That was insane! I love the guy at about the 4:45 mark with the fluorescent yellow shirt wrapped around his left arm. Was that to hold the icy hot on there? Lol.

I never tried catfish. 15+ years ago we went to Hungary to visit some of my wife's family. They had a huge party, they served deep fried catfish. What killed it for me, the entire fish was deep fried. They clean them and fry them, eyes, whiskers, everything. It's just sitting on a serving tray, staring at you. I couldn't get past that. We still joke about that. Glad you guys had success, thanks for sharing!

The shirt was to cover his sunburn. He had it on his arm and over his head at one point. Some guys need their mommies along to remind them to put on sunscreen!

I'm still sore in some places. The purple bruises have turned nice shades of green!

It's always funny coming back over the border and customs asks you what you were in for, and you say fishing. They ask how many you brought back, and you say zero. And they look at you, and say, ahh catfish.

We don't eat these trophies, but I have filleted some of the 3-4lb ones back in Fargo. Really white flakey meat that deepfries up just like walleye. I don't usually keep any as I just don't like cleaning fish so late at night.

Going in we threw up a red flag towing a 20' Glass Seadoo with a tower. He says, not much of a fishing boat to which I replied, yup, it's a horrible fishing boat, but the jet is just too damn much fun on the river. And he lets us pass only too see our buddies getting their fishing boats torn apart and searched.
