I purchased a used 2007 Sea Doo GTI SE a year ago. In the middle of the season, the ski would occasionally turn off after hitting large waves. I would disconnect and reconnect the key and it would start right up again. I had the dealer diagnose it ( for $65- ugh) while it was being winterized. I thought it needed a new key, but they seemed to think it was the key post. They Quoted me $400 to replace the post.

I have no watercraft repair experience, but would like to try and tackle the job myself if it’s manageable.

Any tips or advice? I’ve found limited information on this topic.

Also, will the old keys need to be programmed to the new key post? Suggestions on websites to order the new post?

Thanks in advance!

The post itself costs about $100. I did mine by myself. No big deal. Mine is a 2003 btw. I believe the 2007 models have the same type of key as mine.
