is it a bad thing to keep a jetski on a pretty steep incline out of the water ? reason im asking is i just cleaned carbs on my girls ski and put an inline filter in and then put the ski on a home made ramp which is pretty steep and when she went to ride it again it wouldnt start and was flooded and the engine compartment was also full of gas? but when i let it sit overnight it started right up the next day.
any thoughts on this ?
thanks

I have no help on what or why, but I certainly see A LOT of skis kept like that here in Va Beach. I have heard some on hear say not to shut the fuel selector valve to off while it is running and let it die out that way. Even though that is exactly how it says to do it in the owner's manual, I am new to owning a ski and been out of the 2-stroke game for a decade.

Could it have possibly been leaking out of the fuel sending baffle neck? I guess it might have gravity fed into the carbs, how ling was it sitting at the angle?

thats what i was thinking that it gravity fed through the carbs cause we pull it up onto the ramp and shut it off so fuel might have just kept flowing. it was on the ramp overnight. heres a pic of my ski on it and come to think of it, it gave me a hard time starting it today too so i think that may be the problem and i will have to lower the incline some. the carbs aren't like those on most other engines, they don't have floats, and therefore shouldn't flood and fill a cylinder or run out the intake when inverted. if your fuel baffle or fuel filler hose were a bit loose and the tank was full to the top, it could have expanded and leaked into the hull. i think if you find the source of your fuel leak inside the hull, you might solve both problems at the same time.

then what would explain the wet plugs and it not starting ? maybe got something stuck in the needle and it just flooded . i just cleaned the carbs and put in an inline filter.

my skis sit on ramps for weeks at a time, no problem. Do you have those on bare wood??? get a set of bunk glydes (slippery plastic pieces that screw on to the ramp) they make it SO mush easy to winch up the ramp. plus just unlock the winch and they slide into the water by themselves. Overtons sells sets of them that have verticalk grooves that I have on one ramp but I found another brand without grooves I'm getting for my 2nd ramp. The grooves can hold sand etc.

sounds like yor carbs are leaking and need rebuilt. also check the pressure relief valve for the fuel tank, if it is plugged and building pressure it could be forcing fuel past your carbs. if when you open the cap to put fuel in on a hot day and air swooshes out then your pressure relief valve is not working. also if your carbs were rebuilt with non OEM kits they could leak.
