Hello,

We just purchased a challenger which is in excellent cosmetic condition but with a blown M2 EFI mercury 240. There is a hole in the block. Got it for an excellent price. It is so worth getting a rebuilt engine. I am looking for local repair shops who have experience with this engine and are reasonably priced.

Welcome to the forum. Check out the Merc Powered Boat section of the forum. The overall impression is that it can be difficult and pricey to find folks to work on the Merc engines. Dr. Honda, a member here, is rebuilding one in his boat right now. He knows his stuff and can probably give you some guidance.

I've seen these guys on eBay ( http://www.oneoutboard.com/ ), they seem to make a lot of impressive claims and their pricing seems pretty good to me. They have an eBay auction all the time for remanufactured M2 Sport Jets of various makes (e.g. 200 Opti, 240 EFi, etc...) for $2650 plus freight/shipping, or you can pickup or have installed at one of their locations and it looks like they have an install location in Cape Cod, MA (close to you?). That eBay price of $2650 is with a rebuildable core (which it doesn't seem like you'll have), so I don't know the price without a core. Here is one of their current eBay listings

These guys claim that they'll rebuild your motor while you wait...I think it's in at 8AM out by 4PM...good luck with your search and project.
