Just a few things

So I just bought myself my very first jet boat. I picked up a 1996 Speedster. Everything is in mint condition with the exception of a few cosmetic things. The motors are sound the seller took me out yesterday on a lake and blew me away. It was a blast. Now my questions are I can't seem to find any of the cosmetic stuff I need to make this thing perfect.....I already looked on the parts part of this forum and I have googled around aswell. Here are some of the items that I am looking for.

1) I would like to replace all the decals. Their not that faded but some of them are scratched and have some little pieces missing from them.

2) Fuel gauge. This one stopped working last season.

3) The rub rail and the track that the rub rail sits in....only because if I get just the rub rail I don't think it will match the track because they are both a faded purple. The seller told me I could get the rub rail for like 30-40 for a roll for the entire boat??

4) And the other things I have found but which are the cup holders and a little lever for the center compartment on the boat.

Any help as to where I can find these misc parts would be great.

1) try a nwere boat, w/ single engine..

2) might be the baffle/sending unit. Magnets fell or blown fuse inside baffle

3) Replacing the outer rail, I think you'll need to drill out the rivots ,and re-seal it

4) Wal-mart, West-Marine for cup holders, along w/ Bass Pro for holders and locker

Yea I actually just found the rail and bumper on the parts thing. But they want like 300.00 for both pieces......lol. I am going to see if I can find it cheaper somewhere else. Not that I want to half ass things. Theres really nothing wrong with whats on the boat now, I am just trying to livin it up a bit with bringing some of its color back.

Also the options you gave me about the fuel gauge, how do I go about finding out/trouble shooting this? Should I just get a manual for it? Or is it basic common sense for the fuel gauge. Thanks for your help so far.

Another question is I am looking for a cut off/disconnect switch to install to cut power completely to keep the batteries from draining down over time. The guy that I bought this from just disconnected the batteries but I would rather flip a switch then to have to unhook and hook them up everytime.

I have a perko off/on that I will sell for 20 shipped to your door. I replaced my factory switch with 1 for dual batteries.

Is the switch new? And where did you mount it at? Did you have to provide extra cable to make this work or just use the supplied cables from the battery's?

It is the factory switch that comes in the 98's. I replaced it for one that is for 2 batteries. Worked totally fine when I took it out. I am guessing if yuo do not have a battery switch, you may need to buy a piece of cable. Just interupt the positive cable between the battery and wherever it goes. Should be very simple to add. In the 98's it mounts inside the rear compartment on the wall to the left when you raise the hatch.

Here is a pic of the switch I took out. It is the factory Perko switch. On the 98's it came with it. They have the hole already cut out. There is a panel that it bolts to that covers the hole. I think with some creativity you should be able to easily mount it.

Here is the new switch mounted. The white plate around it unbolts and the switch is bolted to it.

i'd check there or craigslist. I dont worry on mine, i lift the hatch up ,and take gander...:)

:agree: I just open the hatch and look; not worth the time and money to replace if you ask me; the low oil light still works on the guage so i am happy with that

Alright guys I got another one for ya. So while I was on a work trip my dad and his buds took my boat out. Kepp in mind I just bought the damn thing and havent even taken it out yet myself!!!!.........lol. Anyways he was telling me that the reason the batteries kept dying was the the bilge pump float would stay up and keep pumping causing the battery to die. Also the exhaust fans would not come on. Well I got to looking at it and the fuse was bad on the fan. I replaced that and it works fine now. Now here is the question. There is 2 holes, one on each side for the fan. But only one side has a fan in it???? Is this normal on a 96 speedster or am I just missing a fan?? Everything looks just like the starboard side but port side is missing a fan....wtf?

just a "vent" my brother. So, howd the darn boat run...

From what pops said it ran damn fine till they sucked up some weeds on the starboard side. Today I looked at it cause they complained of cavitation and sure enough there was some junk coming out of it.

On another note, your saying there should only be one fan? The port side is just a vent?
