From time to time I've come across a thread about dodgy MPEMs.

What causes them to go bad?
Is the age of the MPEM a factor in it's preformance?
What can I do to get the most life out of it?
Is it well protected up the front of the ski?
If you have to replace it is it just a matter of getting one that suits your model as well as the lanyard that comes with it, ripping the dodgy one off and replacing it with the new one?

Just curious. In case I ever have to replce mine. Cheers.

The MPEM, won't get doggy, as such...either it works or it doesn't. When it goes bad from getting it wet from getting submerged, or shorted out like if you jump start the doo from a running source, it could kill the mpem. You would need to replace it and then get your DESS cap re-programed to match the mpem, from a local seadoo dealer that has the programmer.
