Section 09 PROPULSION SYSTEM Sub-section 01 (JET PUMP)
holder tool
17,26, Housing Cover and O-ring
Install O-ring to cover. Apply Loctite 518 on O-ring. Install cover to impeller housing making sure to prop- erly position filler plug on top side.
PUMP PRESSURIZATION
Whenever doing any type of repair on jet pump, a
pressure test should be done to check for leakage.
0 NOTE : After complete rebuilding of the jet pump, oil MUST be added to the housing BEFORE per- forming the pressure test in order to seat the new seal,
otherwise it will leak. Proceed as follows
-Remove drain plug from housing cover.
-Apply Loctite PST 592 on threads of fitting tool (P/ N 295 000 086) then secure on cover.
Filler plug toward
top side of pump housing
FW1009 063
Apply Loctite 242 (blue) on screw threads and evenly tighten cover screws. Torque to 7 N.m (62 Ibfoin).

I fill it with as much oil I can get in it. Fill, come back 10 minutes later and fill again, repeat a couple more times. I do this with the pump off so I can tilt it around to get all the air out and keep filling.

BTW - I use Valvoline 75-90w full synthetic oil.

Thank you everyone I will be putting this back together today.
Uncle_Tone thanks for taking the tome to send the illustrations.I will be printing these out tonight

With the pump on the boat, for me, it's the rule of 3. I fill it till it overflows. I fill it again till it overflows. Then I fill it once more, and that's enough. I also use any generic 75w90 synthetic gear oil.

I now have a digital copy of the service manual. So much useful information.
So next question. I have new bearings and new wear ring, oil is full and seal is not leaking , but it seems like the impeller is binding? Should the impeller spin freely by hand? Or should there resistance?

Just make sure the thrust bearing isn't getting pinched and is properly seated. You might have a little bit of the wear ring rubbing against the impeller at some places. It'll smooth out after you run it.

It’s very easy to pinch the thrust bearing. If it takes more than a finger or two to turn it’s probably pinched.

Ok that’s what I thought there is signs of wear in the wear ring, but very minor possibly imperfections in the impeller
