I have extra sea doo jet pump in good condition and am trying to find where the part number on it is.
Can anyone please tell me where it is located?

I usually just pull the impeller and read the number on that to figure out where the pump came from which tells me where it will be best used.

or, post a pic.

Thanks for your reply MiKidymac. Take a look at these three images. one has numbers on it but are not very legible20170314_070901_resized_1.jpg20170314_070913_resized_1.jpg20170314_070928_resized_1.jpg

Really not going to be a way to ID that pump without pulling the impeller and getting the part number off of it, that is a bronze-plastic pump which was used on GTX and XP models starting in 1995.

The pump will probably be correct but the impeller changed with each model. You will have to pull the impeller to be sure.

Yes, that pump will work for a 97 GTX. That pump is the 580-800 engine size pump with vacuum tubes separate which I think 95 was the first year for that and I think they stopped making brass in 99 or 2000.

However, you still need to get the number off the impeller so you know how well it will work with that impeller as they had different pitches for different models.

Also that wear ring is shot and will have to be replaced before you use that pump.

If that's the case I'll just rebuild my current pump then if the wear ring is gone. Is it possible to rebuild these at home? It looks like I would need some kind of press and a few special tools to do this.

You do need a press and although not necessary the "pusher" tool helps set everything at the correct depth. The bearings and seals have to be set at the exact depth in the housing per the manual. One of the members here makes the "pusher" but I can't remember who.

Ok thanks! One other question I just rebuilt the 800 motor and now all my gauges turn on when I put on the lanyard and start the ski. Then exactly 33 seconds after its running they all shut off and the ski keeps running. If I shut it off and start it again the same thing at 33 seconds. Any idea?

The exact thing was happening to my 97 GTX. 800 I checked with two complete different sets of gauge and it still was doing the same thing. its not the gauges. must be something to do with the computer I checked all connections and all grounds were all good. Mikidymac will know!

When you press the start button without the key on they will light up for 30 seconds and shut down. Same with the key. Put it on, it beeps and gauges come on and stay on for 30 seconds unless you press the start button.
One possibility:
A bad mpem. That doesn't recognise the engine is running and cuts power to the accessories.
