I thought you were not to use 100% synthetic oil in 4 Tec engines and I was right. My owners manual on page #69 states never use synthetic oil in 4 Tec engines if you also have supercharger. I personally use Castrol 4T 10W-40.

I just found this ,Hopefully it's right!

Jpass, read the label....it is semi-synthetic oil and not a 100% synthetic oil. It is a blended oil.

I completely understand what the label says.

I was pretty much supporting your argument. Everybody I know with a Seadoo 4tec boat or ski uses the oil that I posted a pic of. I would definitely stay away from the old stock full synthetic that Raffa posted, especially if the motor is supercharged.

Full synthetic is fine on NON- SC engines. And synthetic oil with clutch additives is fine for the SC engines..

This is what XPS told me recently.
"From an engine lubrication and protection standpoint, yes - the full synthetic oil is superior, as well as providing better cold start protection and additives that will not cause the supercharger to slip. The reason the oil is not listed as a recommended oil comes from a calibration in the ECU that in rare instances can trigger a low oil pressure warning. This is usually in combination of full throttle, off throttle, and full throttle repeatedly. This circumstance is unlikely to happen on a sport boat because of the driving style compared to a watercraft. Either case, the warning is a false reading - the oil pressure does not drop, but it usually requires a trip to a dealer for removing the trouble code."

Based on what XPS said I decided not to use their full synthetic 0w40 and talked to a tech at Royal Purple. I'm running RP Max-Cycle 10w40 now in the twin 185s in my Speedster. The motorcycle oil has additives that aren't allowed in automotive oils.

I also use a motorcycle oil. Castrol 4T and this is a motorcycle oil which is formulated for high RPMs.
