most would say not to use a stainless steel wear ring, because it is intended to do just that - wear. The theory is that if youuse a stainless wear ring then the impeller will incur more damage than if you use a standard plastic ring.

You really want to know how fast you're running? Get a gps. Seat of the pants will lie to you. You'll really want it to log/record changes as you make them.
