Is the price right? - challenger 1800

I'm looking at a 1997 Challenger 1800 with the twin 110hp motors. The person selling it bought it brand new, is an older man, and said it was not run hard and has low hours (under 200). It comes with carpet, bimini top, depth finder, and a cover. He said it is in excellent condition - no rips/tears in the seats, and no chips on the hull/exterior. Knowing this...does $5800 sound like a decent deal? I've seen them listed for $7000-8000 before, and sometimes under $5000...so its hard to really grasp the price range for these.

Take it for a test ride. If it's in good condition, and runs well... yes, it's a good price. Also... we are in peak boat buying seaon right now, so that price is very good for the time of the year.

If it needs love... then it's up to you.

I just got mine for 5700

bimini top, hydroturf, stereo, pristine interior (seriously PERFECT), etc

I didn't try knocking the guy down at all because i knew it was worth it

Picked mine up for $4k, but its gonna need an interior soon, and the keel needs gel coated (or something). She's been abused. The motors and pumps where just redone in it though. So it ran pretty decent. I figure $1000 worth of love and it'll look decent.

Sounds like it is in the right price range. Knowing the history of the boat is worth something.

Great price but two engines = double the fun, or tune ups however you want to look at it. But with the money you save you can afford the tune-ups or do it yourself.
