Hi,

my first post on here. We are looking at buy an 08 or 09 seadoo

Looked at the 130 hp gti but wondering if that is enough. We will be towing a little bit but mostly cruising and what not. I like to boogie on it so wondering if we should step up to a 215 or something like that.

The only problem is fuel mileage and reliability. I dont want to be rebuilding this thing all the time or anything

Any insight would be great, thanks very much

I'll say this. I like to go fast, but my GTI 130 goes plenty fast for me. After falling off this weekend doing about 40 mph, I don't think I'd want to fall off going faster than that. Also, when this thing maxes out on smooth water and my eyes are watering I'm fine going as fast as I'm going and no faster. LOL

Towing isn't a problem. I rode on an GTISE this weekend with the 130 and towed a friend in a tube, and it handled the grown adult just fine.

thanks for the reply, anyone else

I bought a 130HP GTI very recently and find at the moment it is much as I need to handle.
Considered the supercharged units but seems to me there are extra things to maintain and go wrong.
I may upgrade at a later date but at the moment this is enough for me to handle safely.

I guess i will chime in. I recently picked up a pair of 08 GTX 215's and man they scream. I am still in the break in period with them so i havent been too rough on them, but i have tested out the hole shot and pushed the top end briefly. I started with the learning key, which probably put me right around where the GTI 130 performance is, when i switched to the real key, it was like night and day. I havent been thrown from it yet, and i am going to try my best not to at top speed.
I really like how the GTX handles, the soft seats help on a choppy day, and the extras are nice too. Take a look at the GTX 155 if you dont want to get into a supercharged model, that one has some speed with it too :)

Thanks for all of the feedback...

I dont know if i want to get into a supercharged boat yet but still want some performance.

We are going to look at an 07 rxp 155 so that may be a good mix between the two.

How comfortable are the two seaters, for two people and a bit of stuff if need be?

The GTX sounds really cool but this is my first and I just wanted to try it out and see if my boys were interested too.
I was holidaying on the Gold Coast Queensland and decided for my 58th birthday I would hire a Jet Ski.
Well after that experience I thought I better ge one.
Found a 2006 GTI in unmarked condition with two years warranty and 80 hrs use (only in fresh water) on a new trailer for US$10,000 and that was a fair price.
I towed it 2000 km back to Tasmania.
Since then I found the laws had changed and I had to get an attachment on my boat license which involved a one day practical and theory course.
I can understand why because these things really hoot.
My plan is to keep it for a couple of years and if the boys like it okay I will upgrade.
Interesting to find out there are about 1.3 million Jet Skis in the States, Tasmania with a population of 1/2 million has around 800 registered ski's.
It's winter down her and the water temperature is around 6oC so it's on with the wet suit.
