hi every one, just got 97 gsx and been having lots of fun! Just wondering if i am going flat out for too long is my engine going to blow up? If so what is a good rpm to sit on for long distance riding?

Wellllll...... yes and no.

The engine can go full throttle as long as you want, but the harder you push it, the shorter it's life will be. (that's a given for any machinery) Also, at full throttle, it will drink a lot of fuel.

If you are heading toward a destination (long distance) you would be better off holding at about 75% power. Your fuel consumption will drop significantly, but your speed will only drop by a few MPH.

Good luck

ok thanks for the advice! most of the time i take it pritty easy but sometimes i like to ring its neck lol, i know in cars or motor bikes if you were to leave it in first gear say and hold it flat out, it would not take long to blow up! I didnt know if jet ski's were the same or not, i thought they might have been designed to sit on high revs for a long time as they dont have a gear box
