Right lets jump in.

I on the first day of riding my ski all was well until afternoon. While my wife and I where on it I started to notice that is not picking up revs and I was sitting at about the 4000 rpm range. Leave it stand for a while jump back on it start and go full speed for a while no probs. Then after awhile it would start again, the same thing. End of day loaded up and went home. During the week I went through it as it was a new toy for me. When connecting the hose and running it I found that it would start to not idle correctly.

Searched the sites, learned to remove clean and replace rave valves, checked and tested charge system, checked all connections, new battery and still it seemned to be getting worse idling at 850 to 900 rpm not going over 4200 rpm. Took it to the dam rode with seat off to feel engine temp. I did notice a bit of smoke in engine bay. Back home hose connected started and ran it while blowing air into engine bay.

Spoke to agents in S.A all different problems from, dirty injectors to faulty Mpem to blown motor. While I was waiting to take it to a pro to repair it, I though I would go through all wiring and clean it. What I found was that between the Exhaust header and the back water box, it is joined with a silicone hose. It had burned a nice size hole it and the bigger it got the worse it ran. So I replaced it disconnected the battery for a while joined it all up started and hells bells, back to it's old self. Idling at about 1400 rpm hitting the 7200 limit and idling smooth and reving cleanly. So much for the professionals who scared the crap out of me with there ideas.

Loaded up the family early Sunday morning left for the dam and 4km out of town the jet ski came off the trailer and down a bank at 120 km/h. So I never got a chance to test it.:nopity:

So never be afraid to look and always ask questions.

No not totalled insurance is paying, thank god. Total of R28 799.00 = $ 4137.00 in repairs. It has been almost 2 months. I am supposed to get it back this week end. I hope so because it is now summer by us.

So can't wait. I had the repairer also do my weir ring and rebuild my impellor and do a service as well.
So lets hope. The real bad part is that I only really rode it properly for about 3 hours the first time.

Cheers

How did it come off the trailer? If it was strapped down by 3 points (bow and both sides of transom) I don't see how this could have happened!

Good thing your insurance covered it though.

Hi Michael

No it wasn't. It was only tied down with the strap from the winch.
First time boat owner so i never knew any better. Well afterwards everyone gave me the lecture about the three piont tie down.

The worst parts is that i towed the ski about 1400 km when I purchased it with only the winch strap to hold it and i was doing about 160 to 180 km/h with the trailer.

:stupid:

did your winch strap break? I have accidentally towed mine with just the front strap, but nothing happened :o

You must've hit one hell of a bump then. Whoever you bought it from should have shown you how to secure it onto the trailer properly though.... but anyhows you know now, and you luckily had insurance on it so....

Yeah the strap did snap. Not knowing much at the time. I bought it from a car dealer. Some guy traded it on a bike so the guy didn't know any better.

Our roads here in South Africa are really bad. I drove BMW's for years and the insurence company started to complain about my mag wheel claims as the pot holes here are so bad that you not only damage the rim and tyre but sometimes your suspension. I have now sold those off and bought Nissan Navara's.

Hell don't even start on the dealer doing the work on my ski.

First off no they ain't. They phoned me last week saying that my ski is ready for collection and i must bring balance of cash. Cool no worries up nice and early on the Saturday morning to travel 350km to get my ski. On the way down had to bribe a traffic cop cause he caught me speeding ( buggers are getting greedy now days):reddevil:.

So I pitch up and WTF there is over spray on my side stickers, the seat cover doesn't match up at all, the round bombadier stickers are missing, the rear step does go back up when pulled down, the paint has run at the rear of the hull, my hood on the ski hadn't been touched except for the fact that they glued my mirror back on ( full of cracks and scratches) beading insert is loose and nose guard is still the damaged one, handle bars are bent and the grip covers not put on correctly.

I threw my toys out the cot. The owner was full of excuses blaiming the staff for not checking and all the other bullsh** that goes with it. So now he is keeping the ski for 2 weeks to correct all the faults and then he will deliver it to me next weekend (hopefully). He says " Now that we now how maticulas you are with your ski, we will keep to your standard." That is the standard that he was supposed to have.
The worst part he is the SEADOO AGENT in that area.

Hi

No only the battery came loose. In the insurance claim they did replace my weir ring, rebuilt my impellor and gave it a service. Otherwise it was all cosmetics. They did say that they dam tested it and it was perfect but with all their bull**** i will test it first when they deliver it.
