If you have a beach close by, pull it up near shore and turn it up on the side. Be sure to rotate in the proper direction as to keep water from entering the engine from the exhaust/water box. (Is this the case with newer models??)
I had a piece of wood (small stick) get through my grate once because it went in long ways. It got hung in there and I was miles away from the landing or my dock up a long remote creek in the boonies. Feeling underneath, I could not tell that anything was inside the grate. I turned it over ( in the proper direction as to not introduce water out of the water box into the engine) and took a peek. I saw the debris. I quickly put it back upright (again, rotating in the correct direction) and went and cut me a green stick that would fit through the grate. Then, I turned it bottoms up one more time and fished the debris out. I had to do this quickly as the craft will fill up with water when upside down. I made sure there was not too much water in the craft before starting the engine again. I drove slow without much maneuvering as to keep from ingesting water until the ciphoners sucked all the water out.
Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.
