Installing oil pump

I purchased a 1997 Seadoo GTI with the single carb 717 that had a blown motor. I am in the process of installing a new motor. Previous owner had converted to premix and I have acquired a good pump assembly with gear. What all is entailed to reinstall the pump and "time" it to ensure that it is working properly? I have searched the forums and unless I missed something can not find what I am looking for. Thanks in advance as this is my first ski that I am truely having to work on.

There is no timing the pump, you will need the pump, a plastic gear to drive it and the washer and nut to hold the plastic gear on, you have to remove the rotary valve cover to install the pump, the gear will line itself up when you put the rotary valve cover back on.

Thanks... I saw something about lining up the pump though- something about adjusting it. I am assuming to get correct flow. Am I correct on this?

I removed my pump to go to premix but it is fairly simple process to install. After installation and assembly of the cover when you hook up the cable there is an alignment mark that must be set on the pump to insure the flow will be correct. That may be what people refer to as "timing" the pump. Good Luck !

Thanks... i like the automatic oiler since I have it on my other 2 skis and I dont have to remember to mix gas for just 1 ski however there is a side of me that is thinking of just leaving it as a permix and calling this one done.

Yes that adjustment is on the cable, you will need a mirror to see the marks on the pump and lever turn the cable adjuster in or out till they line up.
