Impeller shaft water leak 2004 gtx 4 tec

I have a bad water leak coming out of the impeller shaft boot. Is there a seal that might be causing this leak if so how hard is it to replace?

The carbon seal costs around $70...never had to replace one.

After looking into the carbon shaft seal, I believe that is the problem. Is there a tutorial to replace it on a 4 tec? Thanks for the help.

Hello: Some of these units would squeal when run out of water and I have seen some people lubricate this area. This in turn would make it stop squealing but would also cause the 2 pieces to leak water. I would advise you to take it to a dealer for replacement due to the many parts that have to be removed for replacement.
