Should the impeller shaft oil be changed for a sportster during winterizing? I have seen posts that said to change it, and others that said just leave it alone.

If so, what oil would be recommended and where would I get it?

the shaft doesnt have oil. The cone inside the pump at the end of it does though. And yes changing it should be part of your winterizing procedure. It is well worth the $20 you spend. If there is water in the oil and it sits over winter, you are looking at a pump rebuild in the spring.

Any 75w90 full synthetic gear oil works. I get mobil 1 at auto zone for 10 bucks and its enough to last several changes.
