Hey guys, speedster is slow to plane and low on power. I pulled the pumps, would you guys say it’s time to replace impeller and wear rings? I plan on changing the carbon rings while I’m at it. IMG_3385.JPGIMG_3388.JPG

Looks pretty tight. Check with a feeler Guage. First pic looks worse, looks like water got in, can see some rust on the teeth, leadinf edges could be sharpened. Imo

I have the same question oddly enough. First weekend out with mine and sucked up a tow rope. Brought it home and got the pump and rope off but the ring took a beating and had some previous damage. The blades look to be in about the same shape in both pumps but I have more gap at the wear ring. Noticed what felt like cavitation especially on that side after. I think I'm replacing rings at minimum but would like some opinions.

I will say this. My pump is completely rebuilt with OEM parts except for impeller being replaced. It was definitely well within spec with impeller looking considerably better than the two pictured. Mine is also a little slow to plane. That's with a excellent running engine with good compression. I just figured with the power that's the way they were.

Its really hard to tell from a pic. I've heard sometimes even the slightest dings on the leading edge can cause cavitation.
