I sent one of my engines to East Coast Cycle Center. They rebuilt it with all new parts. They set the timing, installed my flywheel and starter bendix for free. They sent it back for free, as well.

I don't know might be something to look into!

All for $900 bucks :)

after pop'n tthe flywheel off..(usethe 3-bolts that bolt down the pipe to manifold, threadthem into the holes on flywheel, then use steering wheel puller), mark the stator assy position, fo alignment purposes later, and for the rv timing, go under "search" and i'm sure you'll find plenty of info, on how to set it, at 147*/65*

It could be needle bearing from a rod bearing!! You need to pull the cylinder to to check if the rod is not moving free or if it's really sloppy then that may be where the metal came from.. Was there any damage on the rotary valve or it's surface.. You need to check everything before you just replace a piston.. If you can find what caused the problem it can go a long way in preventing a repeat.. I have learned the hard way trying to cheap out on repairs ends up costing a lot more then doing it right the first time..

Hey guys. Thanks for the advice. I took jhjesse up on his advice and called the guys down at east coast. They will ship me a whole new engine for 700.00 i just need to pay for shipping down there. Around $50.00 i was told. I would need to take the engine out and put the new one in. However, the new engine would come pre-set and ready to go. Just needs to be installed. Since i'm not sure what i'm getting into and i don't know what the problem is as of yet...i'm leaning towards a new engine. Without knowing exactly what's wrong anyone think i should take apart the engine and try and fix what's wrong or go with the new engine? I'm just not sure how costly it could be compared to buying a new engine....

Would i be able to just remove the 4 bolts on the cylinder head and see what's wrong inside? Or would i need to remove the whole engine and take apart the bottom half of it?

It's time to pull the engine out. It needs a complete rebuild. It would be a good idea to pull it apart to see what failed before you send it away.

:agree: You are going to pull it out anyway, might as well see what went wrong.
I was very hesitant to use the East Cycle guys, but they had a %99.9 approval rating and guaranteed for year.
I also have good faith in SBT, but they were so much more expensive, so I decided to try these guys. So far so good. My engine runs great with 150lbs. compression.

Hope they do you a good job, especially after I recommended them.
