I had my 03 gtx out today and i started taking on water fast. I beached and when i opened the seat i was half filled with water. I got it home flushed it all out and refired the motor. Luckily i didnt ingest any water. So i hooked it up to the garden hose all seemed ok. So i went to the ramp and backed it down on the trailer. Started right up nothing... When i gave it just a little throttle the enging appeared to move several inches forward. A little history last year i had replaced the shaft and the carbon seal impellar and wear ring. I guessing motor mount??

Now, I've never heard of that before! A worn or broken motor mount will allow some movement, but 2 inches?! Keep us posted!

I was surprised to see it move so much. thinking that I should replace the three mounts. any tips on how to change or is it pretty straight forward...

stupid question the front mount stops the motor from moving front and side mounts side to side?

Yep as stated above will need alignment.

But while youre in there go ahead and do all of the engine mounts so you dont have to realign when another fails.

Also inspect the PTO and driveshft splines, and wear ring, carbon seal etc while youre in there even if you did them last year you never know condition until you inspect. save yourself time and get back on water sooner.

I had both my rear's go bad, replaced them with RHAAS mounts instead of OEM, the price difference wasn't that bad (like $20 extra each) my front was fine, and I remember being told that if you go with the rhaas up front its an extra special PITA to re-align. Three of the guys i talked to + myself, go OEM front, RHAAS in the rear.

when I change the mounts i can support the motor from above ,unbolt , remove and replace .This should not change the way the motor is sitting? The mounts should be a fixed setting. Is the only way to adjust is to shim? Do i need to remove the jet pump to do this? (my first motor mounts) I plan on buying oem replacement.

Replace the three mounts today. Not as easy as changing spark plugs but... lol The job took about three hours to change mounts. not easy keeping the shims in place. Around another hour to put it back together . make sure to clear out the bolt holes. Going to take it to the water this afternoon.
