on my 97 GSX, Should I buy the trimfix module for 100 bucks or should I just do the 451 mod? I'm not afraid of wiring or soldering. but I don't have a really good concept of which wires I need to splice into to get it fixed. Ive looked at the wiring specifications in the manual but I still don't understand which ones I'm looking for. I wish someone had a youtube video showing how to do it, that would make life a lot easier. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks guys!

eta- also, does the trimfix module need to be spliced in or is it more of a plug and play type of deal? I don't really want to remove my current vts box if I don't need to. even though that is what the problem is on my current setup.

Honestly I just buy good used VTS modules from Nick or Jess at Westside Powersports. That way it all works like stock with the gauge and everything.

I would, however a new unit is 300+ and a used one is 150. and they have a pretty high failure rate. I have heard good things about this Trimfix unit and it comes with a 5 year warranty for 89 bucks. and equally successful is the 451 mod but it just takes more effort and time to install. I'm trying to keep the costs down while keeping reliability up since this is an older machine and it was sold to me in "perfect condition, everything works". and I'm ending up as the sucker that didn't know enough about these machines. I'm learning fast!
